Geotarraco Association

WHO ARE WE?

In the 3rd April, 2000 it was set up an association called GEOTARRACO Students and Geographers of Tarragona.

The people met were (Oscar Borrás,Sergi Vallés, José Fco. Perogil, Marcos Zúñiga, Pilar Chana, Joan Jaume Iniesta, Alex Pérez, Núria González and Miriam Romero) they were the members who passed the rules and they appointed the first commitee.

In 2004 all the members of the association were called (both members and subscribers of the commitee) in order to rebrand a second commitee to replace the previous one. The meeting people (Pili Chana, Carmel Exposito, Jacint Toda, Mireia Clua, Anna Ibáñez, Esther Barceló, Anna Julián, Marga Ginestra, Ramon Pinyol, Xavier Martínez and Josep Martí), they chose new members to be part of the new commitee during a certain period of time. From then, the commitee is made up by the following people:

• Vice president: Anna Julián
• Secretaries: Eduardo Roldan, Marga Ginestra 
• Treasurers: Carmel Exposito, Jacint Toda
• Members: Mireia Clua, Anna Ibáñez, Ramon Pinyol, Xavier Martínez and Josep Martí

GEOTARRACO tries to be a platform with a clear defining vocation towards the work of the geographer oriented to inpel the recognition of our work which is very unrecognized nowadays.

In that sense, the main purpose of GEOTARRACO is the creation of bonds between its members and the connections with other groups around the country to form a chain for creating opportunities of work-related business. At the same time, it has to allow a better use and transparency of information about the existential chances which are emerging currently.

WHAT DO WE DO?

• Cultural and recreational activities.
• To defend and advise the interests of students and young geographers.
• Coordination and diffusion of job opportunities.
• Series of lectures, monographics... 
• Trips and excursions.
• Coordination among geography students of other universities.
• To give information about other spreading ways of information: conferences, seminars, meetings...
