One of the Chair’s goals is to better understand the characteristics of the innovative companies in the Tarragona region, and the obstacles and problems that hamper their RD & I projects. In this respect the Chair will prepare an annual report. In the odd-numbered years this report will deal with the territorial system of innovation in province of Tarragona, while in the even-numbered years it will focus on innovation in companies in the province by studying the data from the Survey of Technological Innovation and Survey of Business Strategies.

Furthermore, the Chair will organize a biannual international workshop on Innovation and Industrial Dynamics, because, from an evolutionary perspective, innovation is closely related to the dynamics of industries. Indeed the nature of innovation depends considerably on the product's life cycle but, at the same time, innovation affects the appearance of new market lines, a company’s market power and cooperation strategies, among other things.
