URV Chairs
The research carried out by the University-Business Chair will focus on the sphere of innovation and examine the nature of the agents involved in the innovation system and how its agents interact with those of other regions.
Innovation will be analyzed at both the regional and sectoral levels, and from two key perspectives: the regional innovation system (the actors involved in the innovation process in Catalonia) and the sectoral system of innovation (the actors involved in the leading sectoral and technological clusters: pharmacy and biotechnology, advanced information and communication technologies and services targeted at companies, automotion, the financial system, etc.)
Applied research will address the micro dimension of innovation. In this regard, it will focus on those companies that are most innovative and the relationship between different types of innovation within the company: product, process, organization and marketing (Oslo Manual, 2005), the effect of the local environment on innovation, etc. The objective of this research is to design a protocol that will encourage innovation as a strategic operation for Catalan companies and ultimately improve how innovation is managed in the companies.
The results of these studies will be published in prestigious international journals such as Research Policy, Growth and Change, Economics of Innovation and New Technology, Review of Industrial Organization, Small Business Economics and International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal.
